NEDROW -- The school board for the Onondaga Central School District voted Tuesday night to propose a new budget.
The new version lowers the tax levy from 1.9% to .9%.
To compensate for the lower tax, the board is proposing cutting two administrative positions and four assistant coaching jobs in track and baseball.
Onondaga Central School District Administrator Joe Rotello thinks they put together the best budget they could. Whether that will be good enough for voters, Rotello isn't sure. He says,
"It's very difficult, I'm not sure what level that will be. The community certainly verbally sent a clear message that they wanted reductions in administration."
People we spoke with after the meeting say they won't vote for a budget until adminstrators stop taking pay raises.
The new budget will be put up for vote June 15th.
If the budget doesn't pass, the board will be forced to adopt a contingency budget.
In Fulton, the board also adopted a new budget. They decreased tax levies from 2.5% to 1.79% and cuts professional development positions and supplies costs.
