Over 1,000 fresh produce containers going out
The Food Bank of Central New York is coordinating the distribution of 930 tomato plant "Gardens in a Bucket" and about 75 salad boxes. Each container, filled with soil, has either a tomato plant seedling or lettuce plants.Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County is partnering with the food bank to get the fresh produce gardens to individuals and families who need help in fighting hunger.
Volunteers will distribute the plants through food pantries in eleven counties from June 2 through June 22.
