SYRACUSE -- Renters in the Eastwood neighborhood of Syracuse have a new way to select an apartment and landlord.
On Tuesday, Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner, along with the Eastwood Neighborhood Association and Home Headquarters, kicked off the Eastwood 5-Star rental program. Landlords can enroll in the program and have their properties graded from one to five stars. Renters can then select from among the best apartments and homes.
"We just think it's really important to put some training behind the business of being a landlord. It's important not only for the tenants but it's important for the neighbors."said Aaron Wood, of the Eastwood Neighborhood Association.
If a landlord wants to get a better rating, he or she can qualify for a low interest loan for up to $10,000 to make home improvements.
