ITHACA -- Hospital workers who were in the Cayuga Medical Center's emergency room the night of February 23rd say it was a hectic scene.
Shawn Greenwood was shot and killed by an Ithaca police officer after police say he resisted arrest.
Hospital officials say a mob formed in the emergency room after the shooting and they weren't able to let Greenwood's family see the body until two hours after they arrived.
Hospital CEO Rob Mackenzie says that wait is unacceptable.
Now the hospital is trying to make changes to insure nothing like this happens again.
Mackenzie says they have already increased security in the emergency room and have hired two private consulting firms to asses their security and communication practices.
Mackenzie could not get into the specifics of the changes but he said they are already more prepared to handle a situation like the one they faced on February 23rd.
