A number of Lyme disease cases are starting to surface across Central New York. Lyme disease is normally transferred to humans from deer ticks. Health officials say people walking around outside should remain vigilant, and cover their skin so the insects don't latch onto your body. Here are some of the case loads local Health Departments are dealing with.
* Jefferson County has 42 cases so far this year, up from 36 cases at this time last year
* St. Lawrence County has 21 cases so far this year

* Cayuga County has 6 suspected cases, none confirmed
