FINGER LAKES, NY -- Wine tours are one of the biggest attractions in Central New York and the Finger Lakes. But some business owners are worried about unruly drunk behavior and the alcohol is not coming from the Vineyards.
The atmosphere at the Three Brothers Wineries and Estates in Geneva is serene. But in the last few months, that was disrupted with violence. In one instance, the owner was assaulted. Staff blame it on people arriving here overly intoxicated.
General Manager of Three Brothers, Erica Paolicelli said, "The Finger Lakes is so beautiful with so much potential. That's why its unfortunate that a few people can ruin it for everybody."
They think a big problem is people drinking in the limos and busses between wineries. Paul Thomas, Executive Director of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail said, "You're going to get plenty of wine if you go touring and there's no need to be consuming beer or shots anything like that between wineries."
In response, Three Brothers is limiting the times busses and limos that allow drinking can arrive on the weekends. They're only welcome to arrive before one in the afternoon. Three Brothers has created a code of conduct all group tours must agree to.
