Two groups asks for votes
Voting online could bring a quarter million dollars to the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum in Peterboro.
The museum, established in 2005, would use the Pepsi 'Refresh Everything' grant for museum improvements, and to start a national campaign for equality.
Jonathan Cornue, the museum's vice president, says he is really hoping that people will vote to help develop the museum in the community. "We are trying to get enough votes, it is kind of like American Idol, we have to get people to go online and vote for us," Cornue says. There are 297 applicants for two grants.
The Abolition Hall of Fame recognizes exemplary people who have dedicated their lives to the equal rights of all. The museum includes exhibits of inductees and historical information about abolition in the area. Cornue says if they receive the grant, they will be using the money to fully develop the museum, to start an "everyone's equal campaign" and to pull together their archives.

The Apple Valley Wheelers, a group of 4-wheeling enthusiasts in Marietta, is another local group asking people to vote for a Pepsi grant. Voting is open until June 30.People can vote ten times a day, but only once a day for each organization.
