GOUVERNEUR, ST. LAWRENCE CO. (AP) -- State police say a 4-year-old boy apparently drowned in a swimming pool during a family picnic in upstate New York.
Thomas Vanschaick of Lisbon was found under the solar cover in an above-ground pool after relative noticed he'd gone missing at about 7 p.m. Sunday in the St. Lawrence County town of Gouverneur.
The unconscious boy was taken a local hospital and pronounced dead.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The investigation is continuing.
Gouverneur is about 100 miles north of Syracuse.
