SYRACUSE -- A registered sex offender prosecutors say was behind a bogus amber alert a few years ago has been accused of more crimes in a new case.
27-year-old Connor W. Izard of Victory Lane in Warners was indicted and arraigned Thursday on charges of felony predatory sexual assault against a child, misdemeanor second degree sexual abuse, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say the case began when Izard started chatting with a 12-year-old girl online. They say Izard asked to meet her, knowing she was underage. The victim told police Izard drove to her neighborhood to pick her up, took her to an isolated location, and subjected her to sexual activity.
Izard is already on probation for having sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl in 2005. The girl was the subject of a nationwide amber alert at the time. Investigators thought she was kidnapped from her Geneva home. Instead, she and Izard were found at the Knights Inn in the Town of Salina, where the girl is said to have gone with him willingly.
Izard was forced to register as a level one sex offender after that 2005 incident. He is currently being held in jail without bail.
