SARANAC LAKE (AP) -- State police say a 19-year-old skateboarder died after being struck by a golf cart on an Adirondack road.

Police say Casey McHugh of Lake Clear was riding his skateboard lying on his back around 10:30 Wednesday night when he was struck by a golf cart in the intersection of Hoel Pond Road and Floodwood Road near Saranac Lake.

McHugh was unconscious when he was taken to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to the medical center in Burlington, Vt., where he later died.

Police found the golf cart driver, 43-year-old Bernard Farley of Saranac Lake, at his home several hours after the accident. The Franklin County District Attorney's office was investigating.
