ANTWERP, JEFFERSON CO. -- A young boy was killed Tuesday evening after police say he flipped his ATV.

According to State Police, 10-year-old David A. Martin of County Route 6 in Moira was driving a Polaris four-wheel all terrain vehicle just after 8:00 p.m. on his uncle Luke Martin’s property in the Town of Antwerp. Police say David Martin’s ATV struck a wire fence on the grounds and ejected the boy, who police say was not wearing a helmet.

Fire and ambulance personnel responded to the scene and transported David Martin to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was pronounced dead at around 9:22.

Police say the cause of death is pending an autopsy. The investigation into the crash continues.
