TRIANGLE, NY (AP) -- State police say a 22-year-old man has died after being pulled from a rural upstate New York pond where he was swimming during 90-degree weather.
Troopers say Jonathan Searles was swimming in the northern Broome County town of Triangle Wednesday evening when he started having difficulties.
Police say his 19-year-old brother tried to help him, but Searles slipped under the surface. The brother then ran to a nearby house and told others to call for help.
Troopers say two members of a local fire department's water rescue team arrived within minutes and pulled Searles from the water.
Police say he died on the way to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.
Investigators say they don't know yet what caused Searles' death.
