SYRACUSE -- After many years, it looks like plans for a new Centro transfer station, in downtown Syracuse, may be on the move.
The federal government came through with more than $8 million in federal funding for the project.
The goal is to get more people to use the buses downtown all year round.
Congressman Dan Maffei and Senator Charles Schumer helped secure funding and re-assured people that, although there is a lot of skepticism, the project will go forward.
Syracuse Mayor, Stephanie Minor, says the transfer station is a lynchpin in getting more people downtown to businesses and for events.
