SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police have had a busy weekend investigating four shootings within a four hour span.
Police responded to four shots fired calls from about 10:30 P.M. Saturday night to 2:00 A.M. Sunday morning.
Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski says having so many shootings in one night is not normal. "That is unusual. Again, it was a weekend, it was a very warm night," Sgt. Bulinski says. "So any time you have shots fired and there's more people on the street, there's obviously a better chance of someone being struck by a stray bullet."
Sgt. Bulinski says the high number of shootings is an anomaly and not a cause for concern.
Police say one of the shooting scenes was in front of the B&B Lounge on South Avenue.
Lawrence Davis owns the Eco Cleaners and Laundromat across the street from the lounge. He thinks the shootings should motivate the community to start doing something about violence in the neighborhood.
"That has to change, "Davis says. "We as a community have to step up and stop these actions the minute the summer comes."
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
