Local is also seen as tourism boost
MADISON COUNTY -- Madison County--one of the most agricultural in New York---has found tourist dollars in 'buy local' and will launch its third annual "Buy Local Week' on Sunday.
Jim Walter, Executive Director of Madison County Tourism, says events--which are open to non-county residents as well--include a Fresh!Gala in Hubbardsvile, catered to include locally produced beef, lamb, produce and beer, on Sunday 3 - 6 at Endless Trails Farm.
From Monday til next Saturday, Madison County restaurants feature local products.
And next Saturday (July 24) 37 farms and 3 farmers' markets hold open farm day--tours, samples, petting animals and more.
