AUBURN -- It took only 15 minutes for U.S. Marshals to find one of Auburn's most wanted criminals.

On Wednesday, Auburn police released the list of its Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives. It was emailed to several local law enforcement agencies and posted on the department's website. And within minutes, they were able to track down Joseph Michael Hares.

A deputy spotted him in the Elbridge area and took him into custody. The 41-year-old is charged with forgery and criminal possession of stolen property. He was also arrested on a bench warrant on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

Anyone with information about the remaining fugitives on the list should call the Auburn Police Department at (315) 253-3231.
