SYRACUSE -- Plans to reduce I-81 northbound to one lane between Adams Street and Butternut Street have been put on hold. The New York State Department of Transportation says today's rainy weather and expected thunderstorms are to blame for the delay. We will let you know when they reschedule the work and lane closings.

If you are traveling northbound on I-81 through Syracuse, expect delays Friday.
Here's a list of projects you should watch out for:
*I-81 Northbound: Left lane closed from Exit 18 (Adams Street) off-ramp to Park Street from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. This lane closure will reduce mainline travel to a single lane between the Exit 18 off-ramp and the on-ramp from I-690 west.
*I-81 Northbound Ramp: On-ramp from Pearl Street will be closed to all traffic from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
*I-81 Northbound Ramp Detour: Pearl Street to Salina Street, right on Salina to State Street, left on State Street to I-81 north. The ramp and lane closures listed above are to facilitate pavement marking operations.
*I-690 Eastbound: Exit 11 (West Street) off-ramp will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to facilitate progress on the Erie Blvd bridge over West Street replacement project.
*I-690 Eastbound Ramp Detour: Exit 12 (West Genesee Street), right on West Genesee Street to Plum Street, left on Plum Street to Erie Blvd, left on Erie Blvd to West Street.
*I-690 Westbound: Reduced to a single lane of travel from the off-ramp to I-81 north to the West Street overpass, Tuesday, July 20 to Friday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily to facilitate permanent barrier repairs.
