The two young girls who police say were stabbed by their aunt over the weekend are in good condition. The information on their condition comes from a written statement released by the hospital treating the young girls.
"The girls are in good condition and according to doctors at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, their prognosis is positive," parents Joseph and Eva Kelly wrote in a statement.
"We are grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone in the community," they added. "The concern you've expressed for our children has been a tremendous source of inspiration. As our children continue to recover, we ask that you honor our family's request for privacy so we can focus on their care."
Maeve, 7, and Annabel Kelly, 9, were found on their kitchen floor Saturday night, as the parents were attending a concert just down the road.
Lisa Turkki, the aunt who was babysitting for the kids that night at her sister's home at 85 Girdle Ridge Road, was charged with the crime. Turkki lives in Manlius, at the Erie Village Townhomes.
