With the state budget finally wrapped up and facing lame-duck season, Governor David Paterson is finally admitting how much political trouble he was facing with Andrew Cuomo breathing down his neck. Paterson told the New York Daily News he does not think he could have beaten Andrew Cuomo in a Democratic primary.
The governor told the paper, “His record has been so stellar in the last four years that it would have been very difficult for me to beat him in a primary," he added. "He's right there on the major issues that we need to be talking about."
Cuomo waited in the wings for months as trouble for the Governor mounted – finally ending in a scandal involving a former top aide who is accused of domestic abuse.
