CORTLAND (AP) -- The New York Jets have cut short their morning practice after 70 minutes because of a lightning warning.

The players worked through a heavy rain Thursday for most of the session before sirens wailed around the SUNY Cortland campus. Coach Rex Ryan ended practice shortly after fans and media - along with Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath in attendance - were told to leave the field.

A rain-soaked Ryan said the wet conditions helped the team focus more on holding onto the football while working on goal-line situations.

Meanwhile, All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis missed his fourth straight day of practice because of a contract dispute.

Ryan said the team still plans to hold its special team practice in the afternoon.
