Second exercise cite about to be added
Onondaga County's Department of Aging & Youth runs free exercise classes for adults, aimed at strenthening bones to minimize dangers from falls. Ann Read says the low impact strength training is based on a fitness program designed at Tufts University. Besides building stronger bones, and improving balance and flexibility, she says the emotional and social benefits of the group exercises add to the program. Right now, 50 - 80 year olds are involved at the Thursday morning (9:30 - 10:30am) class at Salina Civic Center in Mattydale, and a new program is about to start at Ida Benderson Center in downtown Syracuse.
Both will be free, but you're asked to call ahead to 424-1810 x12 to tell them you're coming.
