Here's to some self reflection and the end result should tell you if you are more like the renegade flight attendant or the hero captain who saved lives when he managed a splash-down in the Hudson River.
Whatever you think of the JetBlue staffer who captured so much attention this week, there is no denying the fact that he's extending his 15 minutes of fame, and may have some considerable options ahead of him, possibly a television deal. A Facebook page dedicated to his tirade is generating fans by the hundreds. He has yet to give his first major interview, and depending on where he chooses to do it, it could garner him some money.
I stumbled upon this in the New York Times - a blog entry putting two men who became famous on a plane side by side for your consideration. The simply question is this: Are you more Sully, or are you more of a Slater? One of them survived a double bird strike. The other double-fisted beers on his way down an inflatable slide.
Michael Wilson of The New York Times says, "One of them basked in the worship of a grateful nation. The other spent a night in jail and seems destined to face many years of fist-pumps and calls of "Right on, dude!"
Most of us would probably like to be considered more Sully - he became a hero the world over for saving lives. But I tend to think most days, we are generally more Slater - more fed up and just on the verge of allowing something to burst. Of course, not everyday.
