HAMILTON -- Update:
Two New Hampshire men are facing charges, accused of accidentally setting a fire at a vacant building just north of the Village of Hamilton.
State police say Samuel Kramer, 31, and Darren Coco Jr., 24, were staying at the Went University Inn while they were working in the area.
Police say the two were inside the vacant building next door when the fire was accidentally started. The building was destroyed in the fire.
The men are now charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespass. They were arraigned in Hamilton Village Court and sent to the Madison County jail on $1,000 cash bail.
A vacant house used by a central New York volunteer fire department for training has been destroyed by a blaze -- but not on purpose.
Officials with the Hamilton Fire Department say the blaze at the wood-frame structure located outside the Madison County village was reported around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Fire officials say the house was totally involved in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire was doused about an hour later.
Fire Chief Ross Hoham says that the house was used for rescue training but not for live fire exercises. He says his department hadn't used the site for training in six to eight months.
Hoham says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
