1935 movie about Rome is centerpiece
Rome's Fort Stanwix was established as a national monument in 1935, and next weekend, on the 75th anniversary, they're planning lots of events.
Starting Saturday through Sunday afternoon, there will be a living history encampment, behind the scenes toursand music, all free, at the Fort
Saturday evening 7 - 9pm there's a birthday celebration at Ft. Stanwix, including a community concert and dance, with birthday cake and ice cream for all (bring chairs or blankets), also free.
Sunday at 3, Rome's Capitol Theatre will host a '1935 at the Movies' afternoon, with admission at 1935 prices (35 cents adults, 15 cents children for admission). Three shorts from 1935, plus 'Farmer Takes a Wife' based on the novel 'Rome Haul' about Erie Canal days in Rome, with Henry Fonda in his movie debut, are on the program.
