ALTMAR -- Another local village could be disappearing.

Monday night the Altmar Village Board scheduled a vote to let the people decide whether to dissolve the village. The vote is set for November 10th, from 12-to-9pm. The polling place will be located at the municipal building.

If the vote passes, there will be a study to figure out how best to dissolve into the Town of Albion. One of the big concerns is the fire department. Currently, the village owns the fire department, so questions would have to be answered on how to handle the department.

The village will be scheduling an informational meeting to help answer questions. You can also submit questions to village leaders.

Earlier this year, the Village of Seneca Falls voted to dissolve itself. That will take effect on December 31st of 2011.
