The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a car was hit by a train overnight in Oneida County. They say 21-year-old Alyssa Zito of Whitesboro was driving on Greenway New London Road in the City of Rome when she realized she was lost.
Deputies say she apparently tried to turn around when her car got stuck between the eastbound and westbound CSX Railroad tracks. Zito got out of her car and saw a train headed in her car's direction; the car was hit by a passing CSX train.
Authorities say Zito was not hurt in the accident, and there were no passengers in her vehicle. No tickets were issued.
