VERNON -- The Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel is breaking ground on a multimillion dollar expansion of its events center.
The $16.5 million project at the Vernon facility will happen in three phases. It includes a state-of-the-art 70 seat simulcast facility, 16,000 square foot multi-purpose room for meetings, conferences and events, a rooftop area for catering events overlooking the racetrack, 119 seat restaurant, two-tier outdoor patio space, and 1,000 square foot lounge and bar area.
The Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel opened in 2006. It occupies a 34,000 square foot gaming facility featuring more then 750 video gaming machines, restaurants, lounges and arcades along with live racing and simulcasting. It also features an all-suites hotel and employs about 345 people.
