NEW YORK CITY -- The fallout continues over comments New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg made August 13th on his weekly radio show.
The mayor called on Governor Paterson to get a cowboy hat and shotgun in his attempt to collect cigarette taxes from Native Americans on reservations.
CNN reports Native Americans have called for the mayor to apologize over what they call his racially insensitive remarks. Protesters, including some members from the Oneida Nation, showed up at city hall in New York Monday.
A spokesman for Mayor Bloomberg says the Supreme Court has ruled several times that Tribes have no right to sell cigarettes in violation of state tax laws. Stu Loeser says Congress has also reinforced that with a new federal law as well.
