AUBURN -- Two women are facing charges after a search on the Owasco River Thursday night.

Three people went kayaking in Auburn near the Canoga Street bridge. They were reported missing shortly before 5:30pm. A few minutes later, 31-year-old Catherina Meyers of Auburn was found on the Turnpike Road Bridge. She helped rescue crews narrow down the search area for the other two kayakers.

After about an hour and a half, 28-year-old Courtney Nash of Auburn and a 13-year-old were found on shore. The teen had been using an inflatable kayak, which started to deflate when she hit a rock. That's when she and Nash got out of the river and walked to a building.

Both Meyers and Nash are charged with prohibited boating on the Owasco River. It's a violation to boat on the river within city limits.
