27 pies judged at State Fair on Friday
Dianna McDonough's chocolate cashew pie wins first prize
GEDDES -- The pie baking championship at the State Fair had judges tasting lots of flavors---and calories!
Dianna McDonough, from Liverpool, had the winning entry, a chocolate cashew pie that visitors to the Art and Home Center got to ogle, as a slice held the place of honor in a refrigerated case outside the judging area. She wins $200, and is entered in a $5,000 national contest.
There were 30 entries, but only 27 actually showed up---we're told that 'excuses' include husbands who take a sample of the entry, the night before the contest.
