ONONDAGA LAKE PARK -- One candidate for governor is lashing out over a lack of debates.
Monday night Buffalo business man Carl Paladino held what he calls the "Little Ricky Chicken Roast" at Onondaga Lake Park. Paladino says his opponent in the Republican primary, Rick Lazio, is too chicken to debate him.
Paladino committed to a debate for Monday night, but lazio did not.
"I think it's disgraceful," Paladino says, "It's a disregard for the electorate, who are entitled to vet the candidate. What's he hiding?"
Paladino says his most important message is to remind people to vote in the primary on September 14th.
Rick Lazio told CNY Central during an interview last week that he's concentrating on the November race. He says he wants to debate with Democratic candidate Andrew Cuomo.
The current Attorney General is the only Democrat running for governor. Syracuse's Howie Hawkins is running on the Green Party line.
