MARYLAND, NY (AP) -- The Otsego County Sheriff's office has charged a woman with felony aggravated cruelty to animals for a fire that killed her guinea pig.
If convicted, she could face up to two years in prison.
Authorities say 24-year-old Jacquelynne Sutton of Schenevus was charged with arson in early August after deputies say she set fire to a residence in the town of Maryland. During an investigation, authorities discovered Sutton's guinea pig was burned in the fire.
Sutton was arraigned Monday in Otsego County Court on the cruelty charge and sent to the county jail without bail. She's due back in court on Sept. 6.
