GROTON -- A former superintendent of Cortland schools has been named interim school superintendent of the Groton Central School District.
Dr. John E. Lutz will take up the post on October 4, following Dr. Brenda Myers' departure for her new position in Valhalla. Lutz was superintendent of the Cortland City School District for five years and before that superintendent in Alexander for nine years.

The Groton Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John E. Lutz as Interim Superintendent of Groton.
Dr. Lutz will commence service October 4, 2010 following Dr. Brenda Myers' departure for her new position in Valhalla.
John Lutz retired from the Cortland City School District where he had held the position of Superintendent for five years; prior to that he was Superintendent in Alexander for nine years. Earlier, he was Assistant Superintendent in Oneonta for an extensive period. Dr. Lutz has also done extensive teaching at the University level and was a science teacher in Scotia, New York. He currently lives in Cortland with his wife.
We warmly welcome Dr. Lutz as our Interim Superintendent of Schools. We have confidence he will be of great assistance during our transition.
