ROME -- Former Giants Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress will not get work release during his two-year prison sentence in a gun case. And the denial could keep him behind bars until at least next spring.
Burress is serving his time at The Oneida Correctional Facility The state Department of Correctional Services said the nature of his November 2008 crime merited turning down his request for a work furlough, which would have let him spend some portion of his time free and working.
Earlier this summer, Burress' incarceration made headlines during training camp. "Free Him" was the message halfback Brandon Jacobs was wearing at the New York Giants' training camp. The big running back made a rare appearance at lunch Monday dressed in a custom T-shirt with the words "Free 17 Let Him Ball Out."
