There is no better way to start the season than with a win. The Syracuse Football team did just that Saturday night, taking down Akron 29 - 3.
SU fan Chris White was sporting orange all the way down to his feet, and orange shoe laces, to show support for Syracuse football. "They're looking good, looking like a lot more intensity defense and offense." And White is hoping that intensity will lead to more wins this season.
"I think this may be there breakout season they look like they're doing well in practice, and by all accounts I think the team will do quite well so we're excited about the start of the new season," said Larry VanDruff.
For the second year, the playbook is in the hands of Doug Marrone. Some fans say that could be the key to SU success on the gridiron.
"I'm excited to see how well they'll do this year," said Rick Raymond. "In the 80s we were nationally ranked and we can be nationally ranked again."
Frank Bradford didn't miss a play on the big screen at Tully's Friday night, he hopes to root SU all the way to a bowl game. "This is great if we continue to play like this we may even beat Colgate and Buffalo. I think if they keep playing the way they are we just might go to a bowl," he said.
In 2009, SU won 4 games, one of them was against Akron.
