SYRACUSE -- The unofficial end to summer is commonly known as Labor Day, so it’s time to start talking about leaf peeping.
I’ve already noticed some subtle changes in the green foliage topping trees around Syracuse. And this cool weather pattern in place currently is sure to speed up the process to a golden harvest of colors.
You can always find the weekly fall foliage report here on CNYcentral.com as well as our television stations NBC-3, CBS-5 and CW-6. We gather much of the information used from the iloveny.com website. This past Wednesday the New York State Tourism site posted their first map of the season and will continue to do so until the last of the leaves come down.
So far the report isn’t yielding too much information. The only area to see a significant color change is the Adirondack Mountains and also a little at the highest elevations of the Catskills. We’ll have to wait several more weeks for optimum viewing conditions locally.
For those tech savvy readers, you can get the latest fall foliage updates from the iloveny.com website on social media websites too. The reports are posted on Wednesdays over I Love New York’s Twitter and Facebook pages. You can also check out photos of the changing leaves from their site at Flickr.
Taking photographs of autumn’s change of color is a fun fall activity for many. CNYcentral.com would love to feature the pictures of any colors you encounter. Upload them here at MyCNYcentral.com and it could be the first thing thousands of people see each day when they log on to the web.
Happy leaf peeping!
