Syracuse Police are planning their DARE Karate Championships for September 25th.  It's the fifth year the tournament's been staged, to help fund the department's DARE youth and ant-drug programs.  Officer Esteban Trotman, who's coordinating the tournament, says it's for the athletes, but familes and program supporters will also find things to do.  DARE includes school and community outreach, and mentoring programs for youth.
Participants can get more information or sign up at 442-5216, or email  etrotman@syracusepolice.org
Registrants by this Friday get a discount ($25 instead of $40), and while at-the-door signups will be taken, you must pre-register for tournament commemorative gifts.
