Benefit for Peggy Blume is Saturday September 18th

BRIDGEPORT -- More than three months after a high speed drunk driving crash nearly took the life of 37-year-old Peggy Blume of Bridgeport, she is home recovering from six operations and multiple serious injuries.

Blume is using a wheelchair and the assistance of friends and family to get through daily tasks, but her spirit is positive.  She has tremendous gratitude to all of the people who who wished her well and prayed for her.  In addition to the medical team that has treated her Blume believes those positive thoughts have assisted her recovery.

Blume is not harboring bitterness toward 17-year-old Chelsea Kuss, who is accused of aggravated vehicular homicide.  Blume said today, "It's not worth it too me." The mother of three tears up as she explains what is not worth it, "Being angry. When I could be using that energy to be getting better."

Blume does want to know what happened that day from the point the teens bought the alcohol to the crash occurring. She wants justice to work, "I would like our justice system to do what it's supposed to do. If this is the crime she committed then I want her to be arrested and tried. For it to play out the way it's supposed to."

There is a benefit for the Blume family this Saturday September 18th from Noon to 5 pm at the Bridgeport Firemen's Field.  It features live music from The Horn Dogs, plus food, beverages and children's entertainment. Tickets in advance are $15 adults, $10 children 4-12, under 3 free.  At the door, prices are an additional $5.
