Substitute teacher arrested for sexually abusing teen

MARCELLUS, ONONDAGA CO. -- A longtime teacher in the Marcellus School District has been arrested after police say he had inappropriate contact with a teenage boy.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, detectives from the Abused Person’s Unit arrested 70-year-old Floyd D. Bailey of Kinderwood Lane in Marcellus after he allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old boy. Bailey is a substitute teacher in the Marcellus district, and is retired from teaching full time after 30 years.

Bailey is charged with committing a felony criminal sex act, misdemeanor sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in the Village of Marcellus Court and released on a $10,000 bail bond.

Police say the Abused Persons Unit is investigating the case and looking for any other individuals who may have had contact with Bailey. If anyone has any information they can call sheriff’s detectives at 315-435-3092.
