SYRACUSE -- The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has changed the work schedule on the Interstate 81 bridge repair project currently in progress in Downtown Syracuse. As a result, the following ramp and lane closures which were put in place on Monday, September 20 have been changed:
- The I-690 east off-ramp to I-81 south has been re-opened to traffic. It is anticipated this ramp will again need to be closed as part of this repair project as work progresses to a point further north on the bridge structure closer to the interchange with I-690 in approximately two weeks.
- The start point of the right lane closure on I-81 south, which went from the off-ramp to I-690 east to the Castle Street bridge, has been changed to just past Exit 18 (Adams-Harrison Street) off-ramp. The end point for this lane closure still remains at Castle Street.
This schedule change is for work in progress on the southbound lanes of I-81 only. Therefore, all lane and ramp closures in place at this time for this same repair project on the I-81 northbound side will remain in place at this time.
