No, the snowmaking guns are not going yet, and there is nobody buying lift tickets.
Season tickets maybe, but not lift tickets. But, as we head deeper into fall, with a great scene of fall foliage colors in the near future, ski resorts have many Fall-type activities planned.
Whiteface Mountain, Adirondacks
Drive out to Whiteface and enjoy the cool, crisp fall weather as you take in the beautiful scenery along the trail of the Bear Den Hike. Hikers will meet at the Whiteface Base Lodge and begin their trek, each Friday from the Kids Campus. During the three-and-a-half hour long hike to the summit, Whiteface guides will describe the mountain's natural history, plants and wildlife. Once at the top, the summit offers breathtaking views of the famed Ausable River, Adirondack high peaks, Whiteface Ski Resort and the town of Wilmington. The hike is a 3.5 hr hike, with lunch, and a limited edition hydration pack. Cost is $65 per person. Call 523-4436 for more information.

And here’s an added note that was sent to me after my first posting earlier this week about activities at Greek Peak Mountain Resort / Cascades Indoor Water Park and Mt. Snow in Vermont.
Liftopia. They apparently sell discount lift tickets the same way that hotels sell through Expedia. They tell me that by committing in advance to specific days; customers can save up to 85% on a day of skiing.
