SYRACUSE -- St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center is celebrating the opening of a brand new Nursing Excellence and Clinical Research Institute.
The grand opening coincides with the 6th annual Research Day at the hospital. County and city leaders were on hand Monday to help open the new research institute. The center will provide mentors for those in scientific research. It will also provide support, grants, oversight, resources and leadership.
"All these resources will give our nurses the ability to use the latest information and evidence when practicing in the clinical setting," said Denise Deppoliti, PhD, director of the Nursing Excellence and Clinical Research Institute. "This knowledge will increase patient safety, decrease costs and improve clinical outcomes. In addition, the research will help assist other healthcare professionals and improve the community as a whole."
"When bedside nurses conduct original research, the quality of patient care improves," said AnneMarie Czyz, MS, RN, vice president for clinical services at St. Joseph's. "I am proud to lead the establishment of this Research Institute and look forward to hearing about the developments and improvements that come from this research."
