SHERBURNE -- Some quick thinking by a six year old Sherburne girl helped save her mother's life.

The girl Micayla Race a first grader at Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School called 911 while her mother was having a severe asthma attack. Cathy Race says she had the asthma attack last Thursday and when both of her inhalers broke she knew she was in trouble.

" The asthma can get bad real fast which happened to me and by the time I could do anything it was too late," she says.

Race says she and her husband have told both of their children to call 911 if anything bad happens and she is grateful that her daughter remembered what to do. "She knew enough to call 911. Her daddy was at work. It was just me and my daughter.

For six years old she took charge of everything and did the right thing," she says.

Micayla wants to go to Critz Farm to check out the fire truck maze. Her mom says that is a well deserved reward for saving her life. "I'm very, very proud of her. I love her to pieces," she says.
