A small group of parents in the Jordan-Elbridge school district met tonight to discuss the recent administrative shake-up.
As CNY Central's Jim Kenyon reported earlier in the day, the school board will not try to block a court ordered release of the Superintendent Marilyn Dominick's severance agreement. She is retiring early, and is part of a massive changeover among the J-E district elite.
Parents were happy to hear of the recent news, as it may shed light on why several top administrators have been removed from duty. Still, parents still want to know why all of this is happening, and are concerned not only with the impact the controversy is having on their children in school, but also the perception of the district from afar.
"I hand picked this district and I want to stay here, but I want it to be a district I can be proud of," said Michelle Field, "Right now, it's not that way."
Parents said it seems hard to believe this situation isn't negatively impacting the children, many of whom go to school not exactly sure of what's going on.
"This is the hot topic at the high school," said Mary Jo Wick, "I talked to some kids today and they say this is all we talk about."
The group organized all the questions brought up at a public meeting over the weekend, which will be e-mailed to board members. They say the goal is to give board members time to look at their concerns and answer them at the next board meeting, scheduled for October 6th.
And while parents say they want answers, they also know there's a long road ahead.
"They say there's a light at the end of the tunnel, but we haven't even come close to seeing a glimmer yet," said Rochelle Hubbs,"We really have a long way to go right now."
