ALBANY (AP) -- The state is offering nearly $5 million in rebates to New Yorkers who buy energy efficient appliances.
Officials at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, or NYSERDA, say the appliance swap-out program this year has provided $11.2 million in rebates to more than 114,000 New Yorkers.
Although NYSERDA announced in June that the federal funds allocated to New York had been fully reserved, $4.8 million has since been made available. That's because 25,000 people didn't submit an application or documentation after their purchase.
The available funding will provide rebates of $50 to $105 for one appliance and up to $555 for purchasing three appliances.
