The rain is keeping DPW crews in Syracuse busy. The biggest problem this time of year is getting the water to the drains.
DPW crews are busy keeping wet leaves off the top of basins so water can get into the storm drains. Crews say one problem that happens if the water can't get into the storm drain is that it ends up on the streets, and that's not the worst of it. Sewers could reach their capacities and that's when you end up with a back up.
There are 11,500 catch basins in the city.
