SYRACUSE -- Pop Warner football is returning to Kirk Park this weekend.
The Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs confirms that on Saturday morning the Kirk Park Colts will host the park's first home game since a shooting there nearly three weeks ago.
On September 11th, gunfire interrupted the last game of the day at Kirk Park. No one was hurt in the shooting, but home games at the park were suspended after the incident.
A few days after the shooting, Mothers Against Gun Violence, local clergy, and organizations like the Salvation Army held a rally at the park to send the message that violence won't be tolerated.
The first game scheduled at Kirk Park Saturday is at 10:00 a.m. There are also games scheduled at 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
