LENOX, MADISON CO. -- Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from a local Indian-owned gas station.

According to State Police, around 8:50 a.m. on August 6 a man walked into the SavOn convenience store at the corner of State Routes 31 and 13 in the Town of Lenox. The man allegedly stole a case containing 30 cartons of Newport 100 cigarettes, which are valued at more than $2,000.

The SavOn chain of gas stations and convenience stores is owned and operated by the Oneida Indian Nation.

Troopers describe the suspect as a white male standing 5’8” tall. He was wearing a blue windbreaker and shorts at the time of the theft. He was last seen leaving the store in a gold or tan pickup truck and was headed south on Route 13 toward Canastota.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect’s description or the person in the photos accompanying this story is asked to call State Police investigators in Oneida at 315-366-6046.
