SYRACUSE -- Two men were indicted today on charges stemming from a standoff in Syracuse back in August. Aaron Jackson, 20, is charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Jermain Grimes, 31, is charged with robbery. Police say Grimes helped plan the robbery and served as the lookout man.

The trouble started at a building on South Avenue on August 17. Police say Jackson walked into Omanii's Lemonade Heaven restaurant and robbed customers at gunpoint. A mailman later flagged down Officer John "Jerry" Mulherin who started chasing after Jackson. That's when, police say, Jackson fired at least one shot at Officer Mulherin, who shot back. Then, Tony Cordero, a restaurant cook, started chasing after Jackson.

Police say Jackson and Grimes ran into the upstairs apartments. Following a seven-hour standoff with police, the suspects were finally taken into custody. No one was hurt.
