LIVERPOOL -- A local urgent care center will reopen its doors Wednesday after fire damaged the facility over the summer.
On Tuesday afternoon, officials from the North Medical Urgent Care center (NMUC) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to formally announce the reopening of the center. An electrical fire this past July caused major damage, and forced NMUC to operate out of a nearby suite while repairs could be made.
Officials say the redesigned center’s layout will increase efficiency and streamline the flow of patients, while also updating medical technology.
“Our primary goal is improved patient satisfaction,” said Dr. Charles Cavallo, North Medical Urgent Care’s medical director. “The new facility provides the highly professional environment in which to deliver our services to the community.”
Originally opened in 1989, NMUC was the area’s first urgent care center. It is located at the corner of West Taft Road and Buckley Road in the Town of Salina. The center is open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day of the year, including holidays. They offer services for acute, non-life threatening illness and injury and are intended to bridge the gap between a patient’s personal doctor and a hospital emergency room.
